It’s pretty easy to find rubber, plastic and lesser-grade leather cases for most phones, but when looking for an accessory that makes a statement, one that would make a fantastic gift for yourself or a loved one, the choices immediately narrow.

While searching for a unique leather belt, I stumbled across Abernathy Road, a Nashville Tennessee business which offers items “for the Road Less Traveled.  Ranch, Range, and Roughwear for those looking to find their own way, pave their own path, follow their own direction.” While I have indeed found the belt that I’m going to purchase, I have also found something else — mobile phone cases that look more exquisite than any I’ve seen elsewhere.

Available in “native American steer hide” or gorgeous “native American alligator”, there are pouches and pocket journals which will fit a variety of phone styles and sizes. My favorite is the Pocket Journal, which should not only fit my iPhone, but also my new HTC HD7. I have to admit that sumptuous brown leather sounds a heck of a lot more desirable than the pink plastic shell my HD7 is currently wearing.

While I simply can’t justify the $372 alligator …

I can justify the $69.50 steer hide, plus the $8 additional to emboss my initials …

Sometimes new technology works best when paired with traditional standards.  Like leather holders and note taking good old fashioned paper.  And that’s where the iPhone Pocket Journal comes in.

Your iPhone slips neatly inside the front pocket of the iPhone Pocket Journal while lined note cards fit into the tabbed leather holders on the back of the journal.  You can talk and take notes at the same time.  Multi-tasking on the go.

Made in the Colonel Littleton Leather Shop of native American steer hide with a pigskin lining.  Fits perfectly in your shirt or inside jacket pocket.  Comes with 50 lined Col. Littleton note cards.  3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ closed.  Edge stitched.

May be personalized with three initials on front cover.

If you are searching for a unique and memorable gift, one that will work with more than just the current phone you (or the recipient) are using, then you might want to take a look at Abernathy Road. Their cases look lovely. Starting at $59.50 and going all the way to $455, they are also priced so that everyone can enjoy them.
