I led a book group last week and, as always, I used my iPad for both reading the book and for sharing my thoughts about it. It worked great except for one thing; because there were no page numbers in the Kindle app I wasn’t able to refer to specific places in the book with ease. It was more than a bit frustrating.

Well, Amazon just began to address that by releasing an update to their Kindle application for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The update brings a host of new features; among them, the addition of real page numbers for thousands of books. No, the book that we discussed last week has not yet been updated but I have no doubt that it will be.

In addition, the application now shows you the percentage of the book you have completed and much more. The future of the Kindle application for the iPhone and iPad is still in question, especially with Apple beginning the process of offering in app subscriptions, but it’s good to know that Amazon is still working to update the application and making it better and better.
