Preview

Skooba Design makes some great bags for carrying your gear. Actually, that’s not quite right. They make great bags for carrying just about anything you need to carry with you. And now there is a whole new way that Skooba is making it possible for women to carry their stuff in style! Skooba’s new Harmony collection “blend the look, fashion and quality of a high-end tote or handbag with the capacity and protection of a laptop bag”. Sure they are designed with laptops in mind but they will work well for just about anything you need to take with you.

Julie Zepke, Skooba’s lead the Harmony project, notes

Harmony was designed by women for women, to make sure that the bags reflect the way we really carry and use things. Ttoo many other laptop bags are just masculine, tech-centric designs slightly modified or decorated to be marketed to women. We took the reverse approach—designing beautiful handbags and then making them work with technology.

The collection includes a large Laptop Tote, a small Laptop Tote, and a Satchel for iPad/tablet or netbook. All of the bags are made of black faux leather with nylon twill trim panels, quilted with double-needle contrast stitching. “Finishing touches include top-stitched belting straps and mirror- polished silvertone hardware.” And, as always with Skooba’s products, they offer a host of organizing options so the bags let you carry your gear AND easily access it when you need it.

As for pricing, the small and large Harmony totes will carry suggested retail prices of $149.95 and $159.95, respectively. The iPad/Netbook Satchel will have a suggested price of $99.95. And Harmony padded laptop sleeves will be $24.95 for the 15” and $27.95 for the 17” size.

Skooba Launches Harmony™ Women’s Bag Collection

Rochester, NY, March 4, 2011—Skooba Design has added a collection of products designed exclusively for women to its award-winning line of laptop bags and tech/travel accessories. The bags in the new Harmony™ collection blend the look, fashion and quality of a high-end tote or handbag with the capacity and protection of a laptop bag.

Skooba’s Julie Zepke, who lead the Harmony project, says “Harmony was designed by women for women, to make sure that the bags reflect the way we really carry and use things.” Zepke continues, “too many other laptop bags are just masculine, tech-centric designs slightly modified or decorated to be marketed to women. We took the reverse approach—designing beautiful handbags and then making them work with technology.” Zepke says the Harmony name represents the ideal marriage of fashion and function.

The Harmony collection comprises a large Laptop Tote, small Laptop Tote, and a Satchel for iPad/tablet or netbook. All of the bags are hand-crafted of black faux leather with nylon twill trim panels, quilted with double-needle contrast stitching. Finishing touches include top-stitched belting straps and mirror- polished silvertone hardware. The bags are lined with soft, tuxedo striped nylon, and offer a variety of pockets for wallet, phone, pens and other small items, as well as a file pocket, windows for photos or ID, and more.

The small (for 15-inch range laptops and larger slim-body models) and large (16-17” laptop) totes have full, zippered top openings with magnetic end snaps. The totes can be carried by their double handles or included, removable padded shoulder straps. Both include matching quilted laptop sleeves that can be removed and used independently with their own removable straps. The sleeves are TSA checkpoint-friendly, so they can be sent through airport security screening without removing the laptop.

The Satchel is a slim, flapover-style bag with padded compartment for iPad, tablet, e-reader or netbook, plus pockets for accessories and room for books and papers. The large main flap is secured by magnetic closure, and features a quick access zipper on top, allowing access to contents while the flap remains closed. The built-in shoulder strap has belt buckle adjustments on both sides.

The small and large Harmony totes carry suggested retail prices of $149.95 and $159.95, respectively. The iPad/Netbook Satchel has a suggested price of $99.95. Harmony padded laptop sleeves are also available separately at $24.95 for the 15” and $27.95 for the 17” size. Full specifications and purchase information at www.skoobadesign.com.
