Mortal Kombat fans have received a steady dose of news lately. First, the viral video unofficially titled “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth”. Then the joy of the Mortal Kombat demo (available now exclusively on the PlayStation Plus service). Now a new Mortal Kombat Fight Stick (a.k.a. joy stick)  on Performance Designed Products LLC (“PDP”). The sleek, customized look takes a nostalgic aim at arcade fanatics who remember the original while allowing new generations the chance to experience the fight.

Under the durable wooden hood of this limited edition lap-sized beauty is a storage base for related equipment like console games, cords, and another controller for worthy adversaries. The bottom is lined with velvet-wrapped memory foam. Rubber stops keep this gem from slipping on smooth surfaces.  The button layout features six main buttons on the right (PlayStation 3 version shown below; XBox 360 version also available) with five supplementary buttons in the top center.

This stick will be used for impending beatdowns at the first Mortal Kombat tournament at Bally’s Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 14 and 15, 2011. The top winners will battle for $21,000. This MK tournament is the first in North America and requires an 18 year old minimum age limit. Registration is limited to the first 1,500 players to complete the registration process.

Mortal Kombat is releasing on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 19th.
