WD-40 Limited Military Collectible Series

Collections are fun. I have a collection of fountain pens still even though I rarely use pen and paper these days. I have a collection of gadgets, but that is more about my involvement with Gear Diary than anything else. And there was a point in my younger days when I collected unusual beer bottles. It was a fun collection and a great excuse to buy interesting six-packs. And since I was collecting EMPTY bottles… well you know… I’m sure dad was onto the scam, but he went along anyway. Thanks, dad!

Yes, collections are fun, and when the item being collected is part of “a limited edition” it is even better. This, however, had me scratching my head.

I give all the credit in the world to the men and women serving in our armed forces. They deserve all the honor, respect and support, both during and after their service, that we can possibly give them. This “WD-40 Limited Military Collectible Series” honoring them, however, just feels a bit icky. Seriously it seems like an attempt to play on our patriotism in order to get us to buy… WD-40?!?!?!  Seriously?

The only saving grace is this: when you “buy the can with the military artwork, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to military charities”. If the “portion of the proceeds” being donated is enough, then I guess that would quiet my “sqeakiness” on the subject.
