The upcoming military action game Battlefield 3 takes a step closer to the gaming world with the multiplayer open BETA on PC (Origin), PlayStation 3 (PlayStation Network) and Xbox 360 (Xbox Live). A special few (PC digital download preorders through Origin, MOH Limited Edition purchasers) benefited from an early enlistment two days ahead of the regular open BETA release.

Beta available to residents of North America, South America, Europe, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Beta participants can keep their registered name, but any statistics will not transition when the official Battlefield 3 game is released on October 25. Players can also look for the Battlefield 3 Worldwide Conquest tournament (PS3 and Xbox 360 – sorry no PC) next year.

In Battlefield 3, players step into the role of the elite U.S. Marines where they will experience heart-pounding missions across diverse locations including Paris, Tehran and New York.

Battlefield 3 leaps ahead of its time with the power of Frostbite™ 2, the next installment of DICE’s cutting-edge game engine. This state-of-the-art technology is the foundation on which Battlefield 3 is built, delivering enhanced visual quality, a grand sense of scale, massive destruction, dynamic audio and incredibly lifelike character animations. As bullets whiz by, walls crumble, and explosions throw you to the ground, the battlefield feels more alive and interactive than ever before.
