Roku Gets Even Better with FREE iOS Remote App

I’ve been a fan of the Roku streaming media set-top box since pretty much the beginning. The company tends to fly a bit under the radar but offers a great series of devices that have only gotten better over time. I have the original device (two actually) and just recently got the current, top of the line, device, the Roku 2 XS. (It not only streams tons of media but it also plays games.) Seriously, the selection of media the Roku brings to your TV is awesome- from Netflix to Amazon Instant Video to Hulu Plus and Pandora… the list goes on and on and on. Judie and Kevin got one too and watched The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo for free thanks to Amazon Instant Video! They, like me, are sold on it.

The remote that came with the original Roku was a stubby little device that worked but looked and felt a bit cheap. The next generation remote is certainly nicer, and it lets you play games, but thanks to a new app the Roku remote just became the classiest remote around; one that also goes by the name “iPhone 4S”. Yup, Roku just released an iOS remote app for the iPhone and iPod touch and it works with every Roku box!

The remote lets you swipe to move through the menu. It also lets you control the media you are watching.

Then there are the meta-features such as selecting channels, choosing favorites etc.

It is a simple app that makes using the Roku faster and easier than ever and, best of all, it is completely and totally free. Grab it here.
