Last Friday as I was working at my desk I got a message over Microsoft Lync asking me to join in a conference call. That happens on occasion, but when I opened Lync to reply, I realized I didn’t know a single person mentioned. My name isn’t exactly unique particularly with the way our company assigns email addresses, so I replied simply with my name, organization and the project I am on … and within a few seconds he said ‘oops wrong person’.

This morning I loved seeing Dan’s PSA on how to avoid being an online idiot, so I was amused to read about a funny exchange between Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia) and Tyrese Gibson (Fast and Furious and Transformers). Tamblyn posted about it on her Facebook page … and here is what she said:

Tyrese Gibson (of Fast and Furious and Transformers) saw my name cc’d on an email that a mutual friend sent out and thought I was the model ex girlfriend of Kanye West, Amber Rose. (My middle name is Rose and my email adress is registered as Amber Rose). I’ve never met Tyrese before. He pulled my email addy from that cc list and emailed me wanting to work on an album together. So I recorded my demos on my iPhone and sent them to him. I guess you could call them Awareness Raps? I am the Hilary Clinton of Ghostface Killahs.

Below are all the email correspondences I had with Tyrese as well as the songs I sent him.

DISCLAIMER: Tyrese is a very sweet guy with good intentions who made a mistake and I, being an actress and engaged to a comedian, could not help myself. Tyrese, please accept my 87% hearfelt apology for stringing you along. I think we could have made beatufiul music together

The exchange is very much worth reading – and the (NSFW) demo tracks are absolutely hilarious. Tamblyn set up a SoundCloud called ‘The Tyrese Sessions’, and I have pulled in the links from there:

The hilarious thing is that Tamblyn had her signature with her full name on display the entire time (though we only see it on the last few), so had Tyrese chosen to look he might have noticed. The songs are funny – but in a ‘I am glad I know this is a prank’ sort of a way. That said … you will probably hear something worse if you switch on Top-40 radio … NOW. Dance floor etiquette is an instant classic.
