Alfred Music Releases 'The Rock Guitar Songbook, Volumes 1 and 2'

One of the first things most kids looking to pick up the guitar do is imitate the lines from a popular rock or pop song. Rock music is rife with simple hooks that are guitar-centric and easy to play (Smoke on the Water, Baba O’Reilly, and so on). But beyond a single line is a fully composed song – and after learning the line you will find you want more!

Alfred Music has just released a two-volume set of classic rock songs from the 1950s through the 2000s! The first volume looks at the 50s-70s, and the second volume looks at the 80s-2000s. There are loads of recognizable songs, and the sheet music is guitar-centric. This means you not only get the standard staff format, but also chord charts and tablature. The image above from Eric Clapton’s classic Layla shows the structure – it is simple, standard and easily accessible.

Here is a selection:

Volume One Titles: 25 or 6 to 4 (Chicago) * Amie (Pure Prairie League) * Black Water (The Doobie Brothers) * Blinded by the Light (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band) * Can’t You Hear Me Knocking (The Rolling Stones) * The Chain (Fleetwood Mac) * Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd) * Dear Mr. Fantasy (Traffic) * Do You Feel Like We Do (Peter Frampton) * Domino (Van Morrison) * Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough (Michael Jackson) * and many more.

Volume Two Titles: 21 Guns (Green Day) * 867-5309/Jenny (Tommy Tutone) * All Star (Smash Mouth) * All Summer Long (Kid Rock) * Back in Black (AC/DC) * Better Together (Jack Johnson) * Bitter Sweet Symphony (The Verve) * Bodysnatchers (Radiohead) * The Boys of Summer (Don Henley) * Broken (Seether) * Careless Whisper (Wham!) * and many more.

… and loads more! The collection costs $24.99 and is available now in print (100% recycled paper) and digital format!
