You don’t tug on Superman’s cape
You don’t spit into the wind
You don’t pull off the mask of the old Lone Ranger

And you don’t do an announcement on the day Apple holds a major press event.

Any person who is interested in technology in any way – even if they HATE Apple and would never buy their products – was glued to find out details. My family all knew it was happening, it was on our local news and in the local paper as well as being a major hallway conversation topic. There is a saying that when you want to bury a news topic that you have to share, you find something to hide it behind. There isn’t a much bigger elephant to hide things behind than an Apple product announcement …

Over at BuzzFeed they put together a list called How Not to Announce Your Tech Product. Here are a few examples:

Planar, a display company, would not like you to know that it has taken “outdoor digital signage to extremes.”

Nintendo would not like you to know that it “celebrated family fun.”

NCR, the ATM company, would not like you to know that it will help LegacyTexas Bank “ensure optimal uptime and performance of [its] ATMs.”

Getac, a tablet company, would almost certainly not like you to know about the new Z710 rugged Android tablet, which has barcode scanners and a “bespoke design.”

What other news supposedly happened yesterday that no one heard about?

Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
