The thought of Katy Perry singing in general doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in me – she has about a 6 note range, requires all-too-obvious auto-tuning, and in live performances is a poster child for pre-recorded tracks.
As for her rhythm … Well, she really can’t dance and certainly can’t sing and dance simultaneously. So again, not a lot of confidence there. Let us just say she is at her best walking around the stage singing along with a pre-recorded track in a way-too-short and way-too-tight dress.
So how is it that I just watched her doing a cover of Jay Z and Kanye West’s N*ggas in Paris and thought ‘not as bad as I thought’?
No clue … Maybe it is because the only thing more annoying that her voice is Kanye West’s voice?

I can’t disagree with any of your comments, although I would have put the over-under on her range at 5 . . . and bet the under.
Still, *? That’s not what Jay-Z called it. I’m old enough to remember “Let’s spend some time together” from the Stones appearance on Sullivan and censorship still and always grates.
I don’t disagree – but without that alteration the internet would refuse to let the post exist. Personally it is a word I do not like and have never used, and don’t like how it has come back into vogue as a one-sided and definitively racist term …
