I never used to buy insurance for my phones but, with the iPhone costing as much as it does, I’ve begun doing just that. This project seeks to reshape the entire approach to device protection both in terms of physical protection AND accidental damage coverage if things go terribly wrong.

Who at Gear Diary Backed It: Dan
At What Level Did We Back: Dan backed the project to the tune of $66. That means I have one cell helmet coming with two backplates, a t-shirt and an invite to the project launch party.
Why We Backed It: The iPhone is a great device that looks and feels solid. But let’s be serious, it has a glass front AND back. Insurance is a pretty good idea since an unsubsidized iPhone is well over $500. The cell helmet looks like a good case in its own right. Add in the degree of protection it promises AND the added accidental damage coverage and you have a winning combination that could set the stage for a new approach to device protection and accidental damage coverage.
How’s Communication From the Creatives Been?: Good… too good since it has started to border on overkill. Yes, 27 updates have come in, and the enthusiasm is clear in each.
What Has the Experience Been: The creatives behind this project are clearly excited about their project and they want backers to be as excited as them. I respect their enthusiasm, but just can’t get there to the same degree.
Would You Recommend this Kickstarter Project?: The project is funded, the process is closed, and they are shipping the first batch next week. Once the case is in stores and online, I suspect I will recommend it. We will know more once it arrives, and we get to review it for you.
