Apple's New 'All on the iPad' Commercial Reminds Us Again It Is an iPad World

Depending on what market you are looking at, Apple controls ~68 – 72% of the tablet market. That is a level of singular dominance well beyond the monopoly of Google Search, as a comparison. And the funny thing is, I STILL don’t trust the Samsung numbers, so the iPad share might be higher!

Of course, with the successful launch of the Google Nexus 7 (and countless tales of difficulties trying to return or exchange same), we can expect to see the numbers shift somewhat – though it is pretty clear that sales of the Nexus 7 will obliterate the Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 2 more than the iPad. (Meaning, if Samsung doesn’t take a share nose-dive next quarter, I am calling BS on these survey numbers worse than ever!)

Anyway, after my own recent flirtation with the Nexus 7 (full report coming soon), I was thrilled to return to the iPad. Why? Because as I have said, it is my 80% computer. All of the productivity apps I use are more ‘tablet centric’ on iPad than Android, every game comes to iOS first, and while music production apps are in their 3rd generation on iPad, the category doesn’t exist on Android due to OS inadequacy.

In other words … the iPad is my 80% computer because I can do it ‘all on the iPad’. So it was very fitting this week to see a new commercial from Apple (fortunately unlike those awful ones from the Olympic Opening), which is called … ‘All on iPad’.

Here is the voice-over text:

Read it. Tweet it. Be surprised. Be productive. Make a sale. Make some lunch. Make it movie night. Play a game, or an old favorite. Do it all more beautifully, with the Retina display, on iPad
