Over the course of the next two weeks there will be a plethora of news coming from foreign and domestic automakers and affiliated partners (in addition to all the other news we are releasing here).

Two of the largest shows of the year are getting underway in the form of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that begins this week and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week.

By now you know Gear Diary has a team on the ground covering CES all week, and a couple of us head to Motor City next week for all of that madness.

It is going to be a busy week for all of us so keep your devices charged and your browsers pointed here as Grinding Gears will keep you updated on all of the latest news regarding the automotive world (not to mention the rest of our gang covering the wide world of technology, etc. for you as well).

Ford has begun announcing new app and technology integration for the road (Glympse, Kaliki, Rhapsody, Aha, BeCouply);

Audi has another large presence at CES including the announcement of getting its first autonomous (driverless car) operating permit for Nevada roads;

Chevy is taking TuneIn for a spin in its newest small cars at the show in Vegas;

Hyundai is displaying its newest technology for the road including Siri integration and Dragon Drive, and;

Chrysler is enhancing its Uconnect technology with Uconnect Access Via Mobile.

Phew, that is just a sampling of what is to come and that is just news announced so far this morning with neither event even officially starting yet.
