This Six-Shooter Coat Rack Means Business!

Six-Shooter Coat Rack

Bet you’ve never seen a coat rack quite like this one. Composed of four pistols, this unique piece of rustic-but-useful furnishing is just one of the more “unusual” pieces of decor in Pete’s Cabin, an exclusive runaway initially built for personal use by the owners of The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Other rustic touches includes a stuffed rattlesnake (“Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?”), a jackalope, a jacuzzi that gives Elvis’ Jungle Room and run for its money and much more.

The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is owned by Maggie Hardy Magerko, president of the 84 Lumber Company, and was founded by Joseph Hardy. It covers over 2000 acres of land and includes a zoo (there are lions and tigers and bears… oh my!), a private landing strip, a lodge and skeet shooting range (THAT was amazing), golf courses, a zip line, a ropes course and much, much more. The resort is amazing, the grounds are magnificent, and the surprises kept coming. This cabin was one such surprise. Initially built by Maggie Hardy Magerko as a birthday present for her husband, the cabin, which is only accessible via a dirt road, is not catering to small groups who want a truly rustic experience. That noted, I wasn’t quite sure exactly WHAT message was being conveyed when this six-shooter coat or hat rack was among the first things we saw when entering the larger of the two structures. Among the thoughts that occurred to me were, “Leave your stuff lying around like a slob, and you will be shot”, “We are glad you are here but don’t even think about overstaying your welcome” or maybe it was as simple as “Howdy, welcome… now leave”.

What not-so-subtle message do you think a coat rack like this is trying to send? Let us know in the comments section below.
