I’ve seen and used a variety of different stands for my iPhone and iPad, but none have caught my attention the way the new HiRise for iPhone 5/iPad mini from Twelve South has. This brushed metal stand has the kind of refined lines that will compliment your iOS device while also adding to its utility. The HiRise is designed to work with Apple Lightning Cable, but it is a BYOC (Bring Your Own Cable) accessory. And, thanks to its thoughtful design, the HiRise works with iPhone and iPad when they are naked AND when they are in most current cases.

The HiRise

– doesn’t block the iPhone or iPad mini’s speakers, mic or headphone port.

– is small enough to use anywhere in your home or office.

– is compatible with iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPod Touch, iPod nano – and most cases that protect them

– lifts the device off the table, desk or countertop. This not only makes it easier to see but also lifts it up and away from anything the might spill (This isn’t part of Twelve South’s marketing approach, but is something I have come to value the hard way.)

As Twelve South puts it,

If you’ve been looking for the perfect dock for your iPad mini as long as we have, your search is over. HiRise makes a spectacular pedestal for iPad mini. Sitting atop HiRise, your iPad mini looks absolutely gorgeous, and the speakers are wide open too. Just like iPhone, you can stream your favorite music or display your favorite photos, all while charging your device on a modern vertical perch. We think HiRise will lift the ways you use and interact with your mini.

The Twelve South HiRise has an MSRP of $34.95 and is available now. We have one on the way for review so we’ll be taking a closer look in the near future. You can order yours here.
