The WiFi signal in our bedroom has been terrible ever since we moved into our new home. Due to where the Verizon FIOS service enters the house, the wireless router is on the opposite side of the house, and I’ve tried many WiFi extenders to no avail. Finally, my brother-in-law recommended the Windsurfer parabolic WiFi reflector, and it works beautifully!
The instructions included in the website linked above are very simple, and all you need is some printer paper, aluminum foil, scissors or an X-Acto knife, and either some tape or glue. You download the template from the website linked above, print the template on printer paper, cut out the template, open the slots shown on the template, cover the backside of the reflector with tin foil, and put the reflector together using the slots on the template. Then, you slip the reflector onto your WiFi router’s antennae, and you’re good to go!
The website recommends you use card stock paper for the reflector, however we used regular printer paper and covered both the front and back in aluminum foil which adds a little extra rigidity. The whole process only took about 20 minutes. After installing the Windsurfers, we went from very little to no WiFi signal in our bedroom to pretty good WiFi reception. The Windsurfer website has some actual proof, showing exactly how much WiFi signal was boosted. I would definitely recommend checking out this quick and inexpensive way to increase your WiFi signal before buying any expensive WiFi extenders, additional wireless routers or anything of that nature.
