The Carbon Fiber Slickwraps for the iPhone 5 offers complete 360º protection that is “stylish, ultra-thin and durable”. The company claims the wrap is easy to apply and remove. Having put the wrap on my iPhone 5S and later removed it I can honestly say this is absolutely the case. To be honest I was surprised by how easy the process was. More on that in a moment.

The Carbon Fiber line of Slickwraps is just “carbon finery” enough to make the skin visually interesting. The design also adds a bit of depth and texture which adds some grip to what would otherwise be a slippery phone.

The package includes the full wrap protection as well as a Slickwraps HD Screen Protector and an application set. For under $23 it is impressive.

The Carbon Fiber wraps are made from high-quality PVC and are available in a variety of colors. Slickwraps claims the skins will “bring a look as tough and durable as real carbon fiber to your iPhone 5”. Having experienced Carbon Fiber-esque skins that looked and felt cheap I will say these felt like a quality product, albeit not anything like Carbon Fiber except from a distance.

The application process was simple and I was amazed at how well I was able to space everything. Honestly, when it comes to putting on screen protectors and skins, I pretty much stink. (Stink like in, “Help, I’m caught in the middle of a pissed-off skunk convention and I can’t get out!”) Slickwraps promises that

installation is extremely simple. Our high-quality adhesive wraps apply cleanly and effortlessly to the surface of your iPhone with zero bubbles. Slickwraps can be easily readjusted, removed and reused without leaving any residue behind.

Amazingly that was totally my experience! The skins went on without issue. The bubbles disappeared with a few calculated rubs of the finger and everything looked like it totally belonged where it was.

In all the Slickwraps Carbon Fiber wrap for the iPhone 5S delivers exactly what it promises. It goes on easily, looks good and adds scratch protection to pretty much ever part of the phone. Yes, “Slickwraps is guaranteed to fit like a glove” and it does. Honestly my only issue with this product is the fact that the edges of the wraps are a bit on the sharp side. That means the back panel ends in something that feel a bit, well… edgy. The side wraps do as well. I didn’t mind it at first but, over time, it began to be more than a minor annoyance. Is it enough for me to not use this product? No. Is it enough for me to not recommend this product? Again, no. In fact, at just $22.95 this is a terrific way to not only change the color of your device, after all my white/silver iPhone became a black carbon fiber one in seconds, but also protect your phone in the process. Slickwraps has plenty of different wraps to offer. Check them out here.

MSRP: $22.95

What I Like: Priced nicely; Complete protection for back, front, sides and screen; Go on easily and look like a professional install; Various designs and colors available

What Needs Improvement: Wrap edges are a big on the sharp side
