The Scout for iPhone app was already a great personal navigator powered by over 100 million traffic sources, and loaded with “traffic-conquering tools designed specifically for when you’re on the go”, but now it is even more powerful. Now you can search for popular food and drink places along your route while navigating, and you’ll get cheap parking guidance, too.
Ever had a craving for a snack or needed gas on a road trip? Most GPS navigation apps like Google Maps and Apple Maps don’t let you search while you’re already navigating. Those that do forget you’re already headed somewhere, which means they might suggest a gas station or coffee shop that is actual behind you or miles off of your planned route. That all changes today with Telenav’s update of its Scout for iPhone app.
With this new update, you’ll be able to:
- Search for popular chains along your route
- Suggestions and guidance to the closest and cheapest parking lots near your destination
- A new dashboard with an interactive map with suggested places to eat and drink based on other Scout users
The only negative I can think of is that the updated Scout for iPhone app is … well, it’s only for the iPhone. There is an Android version, but Scout for iPhone is an app that I would also love to have on my Nokia 1020 Windows Phone. Maybe some day!
