The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a huge beautiful screen that puts the iPhone 5S to shame. I was worried enough about protecting mine that I kept the protective shipping plastic in place. It reduced the clarity and touch sensitivity but helped guarantee the screen stayed safe until a better option arrived; the ZAGG Glass Screen Protector is that better option.

Inside the package was the actual glass screen protector, a wet wipe for cleaning the device’s screen, a microfiber cloth for drying it off, and some instructions for properly installing the screen shield.
I followed the steps precisely and the result was excellent.
I use the wet wipe to clean off the screen and then used the chamois to dry it off. In keeping with the instruction warning that any dust on the screen will interfere with the screen protector I repeated the process until I was satisfied that there was no dust sitting on the screen.
I then took the glass screen protector and removed the film covering the adhesive. Making sure to only grab the two wings at the top and bottom of the screen protector I positioned the shield over the phone and made sure that the glass screen protector would not come into contact with any of the edges. (This would, of course, prevent the screen protector from sealing firmly onto the device.)
I lowered the glass screen protector onto my Samsung galaxy S5 and allowed the adhesive to do its job of spreading out to the point where the entire screen protector was sealed onto the device. Once I was satisfied with the result, I lifted up on one of the “wings” and removed the protective film on the top side of the screen protector.
The result is impressive. If you look closely you can see that there is a screen protector in place — largely due to the fact that I managed to skew my screen protector slightly to one side. I was particularly impressed that, because there is a raised bezel around the devices edge, the screen protector actually sits flush with that raised edge. Perhaps most importantly the clarity of the screen protector is amazing, and there is no loss of touch sensitivity.
It is worth noting that on the product page the company indicates that they offer lifetime guarantees on such products – “if you’re invisible Shield is ever damaged, Zagg will replace it for the life of the device”. When a pair of earbuds from the company failed after a bit of use, I tested their guarantee and they were good to their word; I have no doubt that the same will be true should I ever have an issue with this protector.
Perhaps the best feature of the ZAGG Glass Screen Protector for the Samsung Galaxy S5 is its price. When it begins shipping at the end of this month (May 2014) it will be under $35; that’s a small price to pay if you’re looking to protect the big beautiful screen on your S5.
