While I like the lightning connector on new Apple products, the cables seem to always fail on me. I still have a bunch of 30 pin connectors that work fine, but the lightning adapters are expensive or have limited features. USB Fever has introduced a lightning adapter that does everything but video, and it comes in priced at only $4.99.
