The Ultimate Ears UE Boom is one of the best portable Bluetooth speakers we have had the opportunity to review. (Read my review.) Perhaps the most compelling aspect of it – besides the great sound, battery life and superb build quality – is the fact that ultimate ears has continually found ways to update the speaker since it was first released. The latest example of this is Ultimate Ears teaming up with skateboard artist Don Pendleton to roll out a new limited edition version of the speaker. This is a limited run of the speaker that is, “designed with Pendleton’s distinct organic cubist graphic style and is the latest in a series of one-of-a-kind acoustic skins for UE BOOM, aimed to blend people’s passions for music, design and art.”

Ultimate Ears UE Boom Limited Edition Announced

The new designs of the UE Boom are compelling and fun but, as I pointed out the beginning of this post, what is most compelling to me about the Ultimate Ears UE Boom is the fact that there have been numerous functional updates over the past year and a half or so. Among them is the addition of an alarm function, the ability to customize the sound, the ability to use two of the speakers as a stereo pair and more. The UE Boom is, “built to withstand the rigors of life – including the intensity of the skating world – in cylindrical shape blasts bold 360° sound and features a water stain resistant acoustic skin and up to 15 hours of battery life.”

I have been impressed with the speaker since I first put ears on it and continue to recommend it as one of the best on the market. The limited edition versions will be available in the US and Europe beginning this month and an MSRP of $199.99.
