Their high-speed scanners have allowed me to not only digitize paper documents, but they have helped me move much of my professional library to the cloud as well. Now they are announcing the new ScanSnap iX100 Mobile Scanner; it will impress!
The new ScanSnap scanner is not only the lightest and fastest scanner of its kind, but it also packs an onboard battery and features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. That means you can scan directly to a smartphone, tablet, or computer anywhere, anytime. And that’s just the beginning! We’ve got a full review — including a look on video — on the way, but I wanted to share some of the highlights of the ScanSnap iX100.
Of course the standout feature of the iX100 is the fact that he mobile scanner includes an image processor inside the scanner.
It produces its own wireless network so mobile devices can connect to the unit and let you scan to your device or a variety of different cloud-based services such as Evernote, Google Docs, and Dropbox from pretty much anywhere. So long as you have a mobile device running the ScanSnap app and a data connection you can go from hardcopy to digitized cloud-document in a matter of seconds.
And if you don’t have an active data connection you can simply scan your document and store it on your mobile device. That kind of mobile conveniences will come in handy more often than you may realize.
And don’t think this is a stripped-down scanner. The ScanSnap iX100 Mobile Scanner may be small but it packs a host of intuitive productivity features into its small frame. These include business card and receipts scanning software and “automatic document stitching” capabilities. The latter features means you can scan large documents and electronically stitch them together to create a single document.
At 14 oz., ScanSnap iX100 was built to be small and lightweight to fit whatever mobile lifestyle you live, whether it’s scanning contracts on that business trip or a quick trip to the couch to scan those bills. But this small scanner can handle wide paper, too. Simply fold your A3 content in half and scan both sides, and if the image appears to be connected along the centerline, the iX100 will automatically stitch them back together.
