One of the things that each of our gorgeously screened mobile devices has in common is that they are all fingerprint magnets; by the end of the day those devices which may have started with clean glass expanses will inevitably become barren wastelands of oily fingerprints and face grease. Ew.  Obliterate those grease tar pits with products from Toddy Gear.

I was recently sent a sample of their brand new 9×9 Toddy Smart Cloth and Pocket Toddy. Both products are dual-sided — with plush premium microfiber on one side for cleaning and a bright and distinctive silky microfiber design on the other to polish.

Toddy Gear is naturally hydrophilic, meaning that it “absorbs oils, dust and smudges without the need for any messy, potentially harmful sprays,” and the cloths are washable, stain-resistant and wrinkle-resistant.

The Toddy Smart Cloth is available in two sizes: 5″ x 7″ (which we have written about before) for $9.99 and this new 9″ x 9″ for $14.99 — which is perfect for larger screens including tablets, PCs, and even flat screen televisions — just turn those larger screens off before rubbing them down, okay? The Toddy Smart Cloth comes in a clear pouch which makes it easy to fold and stash into your purse or gear bag.

If you want something even more pocketable and transportable, then you’ll want to take a look at my new favorite, the Pocket Toddy. This little gem starts as an approximately 2″ by 2″ microfiber pillow with an elastic loop sewn on the side so you can attach it to a keyring or clip it to a bag; one side is plush, and one side is smooth. If that was all there were to the Pocket Toddy, it would be a cute and handy — albeit slightly pricy — doodad at $9.99.

The Pocket Toddy isn’t just a padded pillow, however; it unfolds into a 5″ x 7″ dual-sided Smart Cloth, and like all the other Toddy Gear, it has a brilliant design on the satiny side and a textured cleaning surface on the other. It took me a couple of tries to remember the correct way to re-fold the Pocket Toddy back into itself, but I’ve got the hand of it now. 😉

Toddy Smart Cloths work equally well on eyeglasses, eReaders, mobile devices, cameras, gaming devices, and just about anything else that has glass or a screen on it. The bright designs on the silky polishing side are a great way to express your individuality and tell your Toddy Cloth from your partner’s or your housemates’ — because all of you are going to want one — and at these prices, you might as well go ahead and get one for everyone on your holiday gift list.

There’s also a “Brand your Toddy” option, if you want to play Santa and give away a bunch of them with your own custom design.

What I Like: Bright designs on 100% premium microfiber; one side cleans while the other side polishes; no need for liquid sprays; reusable and easy to clean

What Needs Improvement: They’re not cheap, but they last forever — the one I got in 2011 is still going strong!
