Beware Things That Go Bumpies for iPhone 6 in the Night

I have to hand it to the people who created the Bumpies for iPhone 6 smartphone protection system. They really thought out of the box when coming up with their product. Then they found a way to actually USE the box. The result is a rather unusual un-case that offers minimalist protection while still actually protecting… sort of.Bumpies for iPhone 6

The product ships in a box that also serves as the installation system.

And while I could describe the process of getting the Bumpies in place, the way the packaging is part of the process and offer my thoughts on the approach to iPhone 6 protection, it is perhaps better to see the process on camera.

From an installation standpoint, I am impressed with the product. It goes on quite easily and the packaging makes it easy to do it right the first time. The corner protection also protects the screen by offering some lay on the table protection. That is an added benefit. The Bumpies do a good job of protecting the corners, but there are some issues.

In the comments on the video one person wrote the following: I love Bumpies!! And therefore disagree with most of this review… (1) the Bumpies don’t just protect the corners, they protect the entire iPhone because of its “probabalistic dynamic protection” design or “ProDyn” (link below) that provides ALL around protection; (2) the adhesive uses a specialized bond so it is extremely durable, you can’t just pull them off; and (3) the corners can’t just come off when pulling out of your pocket– they have a “catch-free” design. THEY ARE A GREAT PROTECTION SYSTEM!! Very refined and is DEFINITELY for those with “sleek” taste 🙂

Here are my thoughts about that particular comment:

I’m glad you love the product. Bumpies may do well in any and all drop situations, but they do little to protect the actual phone from scratches when, for example, placed in a pocket. If this is of no concern to you, then that won’t be an issue, but if you want to protect the body of the phone from scratches and other wear, this isn’t an ideal product.

The adhesive uses a specialized bond so its extremely durable, you can’t just pull them off;

That may have been your experience, but when I was done with the review, I removed the Bumpies from all four corners with the mere flick of my finger.

THEY ARE A GREAT PROTECTION SYSTEM!! Very refined and is DEFINITELY for those with “sleek” taste.

I can agree with anyone calling Bumpies for iPhone 6 “minimalist”,but am hard-pressed to see these as anything close to “sleek” or “refined.”

All of this noted, I want to make it clear. This is a compelling option for those who want some protection but don’t want to bury their new iPhone in a case; the $24 Bumpies simply are not the protection system for me. You can learn more here.

What I Like: Unique, foolproof installation process; Adds lay on the table protection; Protects corners and more without hiding the iPhone’s design

What Needs Improvement: Doesn’t offer scratch protection to the phone’s body; Not for everyone
