TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for Samsung Galaxy S5 Review

The new iPhones may be getting all the attention, but the Samsung Galaxy S5 is still an amazing device. With the TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for Samsung Galaxy S5 you’ll not only protect your smartphone, but you’ll add hours of runtime to it as well. Best of all, you only connect the battery when you need the extra juice!TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for Samsung Galaxy S5

We reviewed the ENERGI Sliding Power Case for the iPhone 5S some months ago and were impressed. I gave the review sample to my brother-in-law’s girlfriend and she absolutely loves it. The TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for the Samsung Galaxy S5 takes the same design approach but adapts the case to work with the larger Android-sporting device.

As TYLT explains:

The ENERGI Sliding Power Case features a removable 2800mAh battery sleeve, which adds just 3/8 inch (10mm) to the length of the Galaxy S 5. The ENERGI Sliding Power Case has the same battery capacity as the original battery in the Galaxy S5 phone, increasing your battery capacity by 100%. Slide on the Power Sleeve only when power is needed. Slide off to enjoy the streamlined new and improved inner case; a dual-layered co-molded TPU case providing real world protection, quality and feel, providing the best of both worlds; protection and all day power when you need it.

The extra 11 additional hours of talk time will come in handy on those long days that never seem to end.

Inside the package you will find:

  • The Power Sleeve
  • The Colored Accent Case
  • A Micro-USB Charge & Sync Cable
  • A User Guide
  • A One Year Limited Warranty

The design of the TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for Samsung Galaxy S5 is nothing short of inspired. There are two pieces- the Power Sleeve and the Colored Accent Case.

The sleeve is a thin but highly protective case that wraps the phone in an impact-resistant layer of soft TPU. It adds minimally to the thickness and weight of the phone but takes an otherwise plastic and somewhat cheap-feeling superphone and turns it into something substantial. The colors are a nice touch too!

All of the ports and buttons remain accessible when the phone is inside the sleeve although some, such as the charging port, take a bit more effort to open than they would were the phone naked.

The Power Sleeve houses a 2800mAh battery. It has LED lights that let you quickly see how much charge remains and has a simple on/off button so you can top off the phone without issue. It slides right onto the protective sleeve and immediately looks like a single unit rather than a two-part system.

In addition, the Power Sleeve doesn’t interfere with the phone’s NFC connectivity and you can charge and sync the S5 while the sleeve is in place.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 gets decent battery life- especially when you have the power saving modes turned on- but I still found mine running down as the day unfolded. With the TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for Samsung Galaxy S5 you’ll not only protect your phone but, when the need arises, you’ll be able to keep it running even as you are on the move. It is an impressive battery/case combo and well worth the $79.99 price tag. The review sample has been on my friend Robyn’s S5 since she got it some weeks ago and she absolutely loves it. What I Like: The accent case adds protection without a lot of bulk; The Power Sleeve adds hours of use and only needs to be connected when needed; The two parts become one once the Power Sleeve is attached

What Needs Improvement: Not a thing!
