Alfa Romeo Debuts New 4C Spider at NAIAS

While the Fiat Chrysler Automobile group did not host a bevvy of press conferences at the big auto show in Detroit this year, it was represented by one of its small brands Alfa Romeo with the debut of the all-new 2015 4C Spider. The new model is said to build on the brand’s legendary racing history offering an exciting open-air motoring experience.

Alfa Romeo is a sub-brand under Fiat so when the Italian company took over control of the Chrysler Group it added even more European flair to one of the Big Three here in Detroit.

Like its coupe counterpart, the new Spider will be powered by an all-aluminum 1750cc turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder engine delivering 237hp. Alfa Romeo will offer buyers a choice of three exhaust systems for the 4C Spider but the only gearbox will be a paddle-shifting Alfa TCT twin clutch transmission.

The 4C Spider will be handcrafted in Modena, Italy and combines the performance engineering of Alfa Romeo with the craftsmanship of Maserati manufacturing.
