This year at NAMM 2015 we have seen the rebirth of the classic synthesizer brands Sequential Circuits and ARP, leaving only one brand remaining. So naturally Moog has come back as well, and they introduced redesigned versions of their absolute classic modular synthesizers the System 15, 35 and 55. These dynamic instruments are all about creativity.

Moog Brings Back Three Legendary Modular Large-Format Synthesizers

From press release: The Moog System 55 (shown above) modular synthesizer is a highly sophisticated and dynamic analog instrument composed of 36 handcrafted modules and housed in 2 hand-finished solid walnut cabinets. This magnificent creation provides limitless sonic potential and inspiration, while delivering the depth and dimension of sound found only in a vintage Moog modular synthesizer. The System 55 comes equipped with the coveted 960 Sequential Controller for incorporating extensive rhythmic complexity into the creative process.

The Moog Model 15 modular synthesizer is an ultra-powerful, compact studio synthesizer designed for live performance and portability. It is housed in a rugged tolex-encased cabinet and is an ideal solution for the touring synthesist.

The Model 15 design focuses on speed, creativity and simplicity while still providing the enormous sonic depth and dimension found only in a vintage Moog modular synthesizer. The 907 Fixed Filter Bank section of the Model 15 is available in multiple configurations to better suit the needs of the performing musician.

The Moog System 35 modular synthesizer is a well-refined 5-oscillator instrument composed of 22 handcrafted analog modules and housed in a hand-finished solid walnut cabinet.

This elegant studio solution has been faithfully recreated to be the centerpiece of inspiration and sound in the modern composition studio and delivers all of the sonic depth and dimension found only in a vintage Moog modular synthesizer.

System_55

Three years of research and design has culminated in Moog Music recommencing the manufacturing of a limited number of Moog System 55 modular synthesizers. Using all of the original documentation, as well as the original circuit board and art files, Moog engineers have hand-built true recreations of the original instruments based on their 1973 factory specifications.

Each individual module is hand-stuffed and the components are hand-soldered to circuit boards using traditional wiring methods. Each module is then finished with a photo-etched aluminum panel, and placed in its new modular instrument.

This limited reissue of the Moog System 55 modular synthesizer is built to order. Only 55 total units will be made and sold worldwide.

It is worth noting that these are limited availability runs, and they aren’t cheap – the System 55 will have 55 units available, priced at $55,000 each; the System 35 will have 35 units available, priced at $22,000; and the Model 15 will have 150 units available, priced at $10,000.
