Peavey Electronics Introduces 50th Anniversary Guitar Amplifiers at NAMM

2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Peavey, a company known for high quality amplifiers at affordable prices. They also make much-loved basses and guitars (the T40 and T60 were popular when I was in high school, and I still a T20 fretless bass), as well as sound reinforcement equipment and other products, but amplifiers have always been their focus.

6505 MH mini head.

The newest addition to Peavey’s celebrated 6505 series, the all-tube 6505 MH authentically produces the legendary tones of the Peavey 6505 in a small, portable package.

The 6505 MH has two channels that follow the same gain structure and voicing of its iconic big brother to produce the devastating, overdriven tones that have defined the sound of modern metal music for more than two decades. The channels share EQ, lush reverb and an effects loop. Channels, crunch, effects loop and reverb are all footswitchable.

Peavey’s TSI (Tube Status Indication) tube monitoring indicator keeps players apprised of power tube status, and in the event of a necessary tube replacement, identifies which tube needs to be replaced. Rear panel features such as an effects loop, MSDI (Microphone Simulated Direct Interface) with XLR output and USB out, speaker defeat switch and a 3 position power attenuator switch make the 6505 MH an ideal tool for recording or use in smaller venues.

Features:

• 2x EL84 power tubes and 3x 12AX7/ECC83 preamp tubes
• Two footswitchable channels with three-band EQ
• Footswitchable crunch on rhythm channel, footswitchable reverb, footswitchable buffered effects loop
• TSI circuit
• Impedance switch for 16 or 8-ohm cabinets
• MSDI output with XLR and ground lift switch
• USB output

• Headphone output
• Attenuator switch for 20 Watts, 5 Watts or 1 Watt output power

Headliner 1000 rack-mountable bass amplifier head

The Peavey Headliner 1000 features a seven-band graphic EQ spaced at optimized frequencies, with each slider offering 15 dB of cut and boost to provide comprehensive tone shaping frequencies optimized for bass guitar.

Players can use the graphic EQ in conjunction with the low and high shelving-type tone controls or bypass the graphic EQ entirely.

A built-in optical compressor with level control and bypass allows players to add just the right amount of compression to the mix. The Crunch feature adds a vintage tube effect that distorts only the high frequencies, preserving the all-important fat low-end. The amp also features Bright and Contour switches, an effects loop, master volume and headphone out. The Compressor and Crunch features are footswitch selectable.

The Headliner 1000 features a built-in XLR direct interface that routes the signal to the house sound system or recording device, and an active/passive pickup switch that compensates for active instrument inputs. Peavey’s exclusive DDT speaker protection circuitry senses the onset of clipping and responds with slight limiting that allows the amp to retain the tone, headroom and dynamics (bypass included).

Designed to complement the Headliner 1000 amplifier, the Peavey Headliner 410, Headliner 210, Headliner 115, and Headliner 112 bass enclosures are made with premium loudspeakers and components for superior punch, tone and reliability.
