If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, then you might’ve missed it, but Cards Against Humanity is arguably the greatest drinking card game you can play. The ridiculously funny (and sometimes offense) game created as a party game for a New Year’s celebration has gone mobile!
Inspired by games like “Apples to Apples” and “Charades”, the game now can be played by anyone who owns a phone, tablet, or computer. The online version is called Cards Against Originality, and it has every single card you expect from the game you’d order through Amazon, including all five expansion packs.
Although not distributed by the original crew from Highland Park High School, who in 2010 started a Kickstarter that ended up becoming one of the fastest selling games on Amazon. The game is licensed under a Creative Commons license that allows the game to be altered and used for free, and cannot be sold. There have been other tries at this before, but quickly shut down after asking for funding, as well as apps that have been pulled because of failure to abide by the rules established by Product Hunt.
The Rules of the game Explained by the Website:
To start the game, each player draws ten white “answer” cards. The player “who pooped last” begins as the Card Czar, and plays a black “question” card. The Card Czar reads the question out to the group. Each player answers the question by passing one white “answer” card, face down, to the Card Czar. The Card Czar shuffles all of the answers, reads them out loud in a humorous fashion, and picks their favorite. Whoever played that answer gets to keep the Black Card as one Awesome Point. After each round, a new player becomes the Card Czar, and every player draws back up to ten cards.
Once again, although this is not an “Official” app, Cards Against Originality is always fun, and certainly deserves a shortcut on your phone, or a bookmark on your browser.
