I remember the Aiwa audio brand from my childhood. Sadly, it was absorbed by Sony in 2002.  They, in turn, discontinued the brand in 2006. Joe Born of Neuros Technology, Digital Innovations and Hale Devices fame has resuscitated the brand with what looks like a fabulous new bluetooth speaker, the EXOS-9.

As a kid Aiwa was my goto brand. Sony was the more expensive and somewhat high end brand in the 80s.  Aiwa was generally better than the long dead Realistic brand of Radio Shack but not quite as good as Sony. That’s the past. Aiwa, under Joe Born’s leadership looks to be targeting the high end with the new EXOS-9 Bluetooth speaker.

From the pictures, it looks awesome. The specs are great too:

Lots to like right?  Looks like this would fit in great pretty much anywhere and I like that it’s not limited to bluetooth.

The Aiwa EXOS-9 is now available for pre-order for $299.99 on Aiwa’s new US website and is expected to ship in mid 2015.
