April 2015 Movie Release Calendar: Lots to See!

Gear up your devices, streaming resources and DVD/Blu-ray players! Here is the current home video and movie release calendar for April 2015.

 Note: All release dates are subject to change.

April Fool’s Day will feature “Woman in Gold” in theaters instead of pranks. This drama starring Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, and Katie Holmes and is based from a true story about a woman recovering her family’s artwork.

On home video, viewers of all ages can visit the animated “Barnyard” on the Netflix streaming service plus Amazon Prime Instant Video releases the 1994 classic adaptation “Little Women” and their exclusive release of the comedy-drama “My Old Lady” starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Kevin Kline and Maggie Smith (TV’s “Downton Abbey”).

On April 2, Amazon Instant also has another quality release, “The Better Angels”, a biodrama about Abraham Lincoln’s childhood, plus Liam Neeson’s action-thriller “Taken 3” available for advanced purchase.


April 2015 Movie Release Calendar: Lots to See!

On Friday, April 3, the highly anticipated racing action-thriller “Furious 7” will open with a familiar cast (including Paul Walker in one of his last acting roles before his unfortunate death) plus Kurt Russell and Jason Statham playing the new enemy.

On April 7, home video releases include the Penn State sports documentary “Happy Valley” and TV’s “Manhattan: Season One”.

In theaters on April 10, the latest Nicolas Sparks movie adaptation “The Longest Ride” along with the sci-fi epic “Ex Machina” and Disneynature’s latest documentary “Monkey Kingdom” narrated by Tina Fey. Netflix also debuts “Marvel’s Daredevil: Season 1”.

On April 12, Netflix shows the musical-family drama “The Identical” starring Blake Rayne, Ashley Judd, and Ray Liotta, which follows two twin brothers’ lives after they are separated at birth.

April 14 brings the home video release of the documentary “Antarctica: A Year on Ice” and the dramas “Big Eyes”, directed by Tim Burton, and “You’re Not You” starring Hilary Swank, Emmy Rossum, Josh Duhamel, and Marcia Gay Harden. This film centers on caregivers and patients contending with the incurable disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

In theaters on Friday April 17, “Child 44”, based on the first novel in author Tom Rob Smith’s best-selling trilogy, starring Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, and Noomi Rapace will release. The comedy “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” stars a returning Kevin James. Amazon Instant Video also offers the family comedy/book adaptation “Paddington” for purchase.

Amazon Instant Video also has “Selma” and “Jupiter Ascending” available for purchase on April 21. Home video releases on that same date include “Taken 3” and the addiction drama “Cake” starring Jennifer Anniston, Anna Kendrick, and

In theaters on Friday, April 24, movie goers can enter “The Age of Adaline”, a drama romance starring Blake Lively as a beautiful woman who miraculously stops aging at 29 finally finds true love eight decades later. Harrison Ford, Kathy Baker and Ellen Burstyn also star.

Theatergoers can also see the comedy-drama “Little Boy” starring Kevin James, Ben Chaplin (“Cinderella”) and Emily Watson and the Russell Crowe headliner/war drama “The Water Diviner” (limited release).

The popular adventure film “National Treasure” comes to Netflix on April 27 while the war drama “American Sniper” is available on Amazon Instant Video for purchase.

This month’s movie offerings conclude with the comedy “The Wedding Ringer”, “Paddington”, and the unique, star-filled romantic comedy “Accidental Love”, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel, all on April 28.
