So What’s AppleCare+ for Apple Watch’s Target Audience? Idiots.

Let me preface this by saying this. I want the Apple Watch. It’s not a need, strictly a want. I love having something nobody else can have. So naturally last month, I wanted one. Bad. But then came the waiting process, and I had time to think, and now just like people who weren’t up until 3am pre-ordering one, I’ll just be waiting.

Only difference is … those of you who DID manage to purchase one, how will you protect it from incidentals? And what body part will you use as collateral?

The price for AppleCare+ is certainly NOT cheap, but this here is outright crazy. Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport buyers will obviously pay a little less, while Apple Watch Edition buyers will be at your local blood drives soon.

Now, say if you opt out of AppleCare+ for your Apple Watch. Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch buyers will receive 90 days of phone support and one year of non-accidental warranty coverage. Apple Watch Edition buyers get two years of phone support and hardware repair coverage at no extra charge.

AppleCare+ for Apple Watch models and the iPhone is only available when you purchase a new Apple Watch model from an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store in the United States.

As an Apple Fanboy, I have to say … if my wrist-wear needs more insurance than my laptop, and they are both made by the same company, I’ll just sit this one out.
