But that may not be the case for too long as a startup by the name of KickShark is raising funds via Kickstarter for their solution to your problem, going by the name of HydraDock.
The thing about the new MacBook is that it comes with just one USB. Now how can you charge your phone AND your computer at the same time? Easy, with the HydraDock. With a goal of $35,000 and 29 days to go, the HydraDock is an 11 Port USB-C Dock for your Apple MacBook. The docking station will support networking, storage, and most importantly, interconnects your external displays.
The HydraDock, along with a new iPhone sync cable and 12 volt car charger cable for the new MacBook, are all available on a Kickstarter campaign, with products shipping during June 2015. The HydraDock has a 3.5mm headphone port, an HDMI port, a Mini DisplayPort jack, an SDXC card slot, 4 USB 3.0 ports, and 2 USB-C ports. It plugs into the USB-C port on the MacBook, and is powered by plugging the Apple power adapter into the HydraDock.
Developed over the past year out of a technology accelerator program in Nashville, Tennessee, the Hydradock will retail for $169 in stores. However if you back the Kickstarter early, you can save $40 and get the unit for $129, which also includes shipping to the US.
