Ventev Mobile Accessories Review Roundup

Ventev may not be a household name when it comes to mobile accessories but they should be. We were sent a number of their mobile accessories for review. I am impressed with the form, the function and the pricing of each, and you will be too. Lets take a look at each of them.

Ventev Mobile Accessories Review Roundup
First up is the Ventev Wallport r2240 charger. The Wallport r2240 is a universal dual output USB port that offers rapid charging thanks to an output of 2.4A per port. That means this seemingly simple wall charger is able to charge two devices at the fastest possible rate and get you up and running more quickly than the standard charger you are likely using. And here’s the great news — the charger works with pretty much all mobile devices, and that includes some of today’s more power-hungry tablets. The only downside of this $29.99 accessory is the fact that it is a BYOC (Bring Your Own Cable) accessory.

Features:

  • Dual 2.4A USB ports with folding AC prongs
  • Rapid charging ports power the devices at its fastest rate possible
  • Ideal for tablets and smartphones
  • Smart chip offers universal compatibility for charging any device
  • Works with most powerstrips
  • Cables sold separately

You may not be a fan of the putty-like color of this and all of the accessories in this roundup, but mobile device charging is about efficiency not beauty, and this beauty gets the job done quickly. That is, after all, what matters most and for under $29.99 I highly recommend it.

Next up is the Ventev Wallport q1200. This charger has a single USB port. That might seem like a bummer when the previous accessory can charge two devices but this little gizmo is able to charge all Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 enabled devices 75% more quickly than conventional USB charging can offer.

Features:

  • Works with devices that have the Snapdragon 800 chipset or higher with supporting software
  • Backwards / forwards compatibility between Quick Charge 1.0 and Quick Charge 2.0
  • Illuminated USB port

The small size and foldable prongs of the Ventev Wallport q1200 make it an ideal charger for travel. Just throw it into your gear bag and you will be able to power up your device is less time than you could ever imagine.

Next we have the Ventev Dashport q1200 charger. This charger, designed for use in the car, also has the ability to charge Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 enabled devices, and does so 75% faster than the current car charger you are likely using. There are less expensive car adapters on the market than this $34.99 charger but the low profile, decent build, and speed of charging make it worth the price.

Features:

  • Works with devices that have the Snapdragon 800 chipset or higher with supporting software
  • Backwards / forwards compatibility between Quick Charge 1.0 and Quick Charge 2.0
  • Illuminated USB port

Add in the fact that it works with any device, even those that do not have the quick-charging feature and you have a single charger that will keep you fueled up while on the go. Yes, you will have to provide your own cable but that is far from a deal breaker.

The final item in this roundup is perhaps the most interesting. The Ventev Chargedock 2000 battery charger is a desktop charging stand and portable battery in one. The device works beautifully as a desk stand for your iPhone or iPod touch, and allows full access to your device while it is charging. The phone or touch is held at a good viewing angle so you can use the small — or not so small if you have the iPhone 6 plus — as a second screen when at your desk.

Where this dock stands out is in the fact that it doubles as a mobile stand AND charger when you are out and about. You can use it as a stand while you are working in a Starbucks and, if your charge is getting low, you can push the button and activate the built in 2000mAh lithium polymer battery and top off your phone. Based on my extensive use of the dock over the past few weeks I can honestly say the $39.99 is more than reasonable. They even include a microUSB cable so you can keep the internal battery charged.

The chargedock 2000 is a combination desktop charging stand and portable battery in one convenient device.

The dock is designed and advertised as being compatible with the iPhone 5/5s/5c but it works fine with my iPhone tablet.

Features:

  • 2000mAh lithium polymer battery
  • Apple Lightning connector output
  • LED battery level indicator
  • Designed to work with most cases
  • Includes a USB to microUSB charging cable

I have been and will continue to use all of the items listed in the Ventev mobile power roundup but am particularly partial to this item. It lets me dock and charge my iPhone on the go and then folds up for simple transportation as one of my gear bag mainstays. And while I do wish it also worked with my iPad, that would have required the device to have a far larger, and less portable, footprint.

Overall I am impressed with Ventev’s various offerings. They offer great value, excellent build quality, and are a good way to compact the fact that, all too often, our powerful phones and tablets have batteries that don’t quite make it through a day of heavy, or even medium, use. No, they don’t have the most attractive of colors and won’t win any beauty contests, but when your device is running low on juice it is efficiency rather than aesthetics that matter most. On that front they are each a home run. Check out all of the company’s extensive offerings here.
