The innerexile glacier case for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is a premium lightweight, translucent, and self-healing protective case. All of the iPhone’s keys are fully protected with three different colors of plastic keys that can be switched in and out to give the user customizability of their case. The glacier can be purchased for around $40.

The Taiwanese manufacturer, Innerexile, prides itself on beautiful products that can withstand everyday use. The glacier comes in clear and grey translucent colors, both of which provide attractive options for which to protect your valuable iDevice. The three different color button covers that come with the case are bright aluminum, brushed aluminum, and gold. The option of changeable buttons gives the glacier a distinct advantage in a market where users typically don’t have a ton of customizability in their phone cases.

The self-healing case is made of a rigid plastic material that protects the body of your phone fairly well. The rigid case hugs your phone tightly and you can tell that the case is securely attached. The only branding on the case is a small “Innerexile” stamp towards the bottom of the rear of the case. The case is open on the bottom to allow access to the speaker grill, lightning port, and headphone jack, although the bottom corners are still protected.

The case allows an opening for use of the mute switch, while there are also openings for the volume and power buttons. However these openings are covered by attractive plastic buttons that are super easy to switch in and out. My only complaint about the button covers is that they can sometimes make it difficult to activate the buttons, depending on what angle your finger presses on them. It’s difficult to describe, but you can feel a slight difference between pressing the buttons with the glacier case on the phone compared to pressing the buttons without the protective covers. Unfortunately, since the rigid case is shaped specifically to accept the protective button covers, you don’t have the option of removing the button covers completely. If you’re looking for a case without button covers, you can check out innerexile’s hydra case, which features the same self-healing material as the glacier body, but without the button covers.

The self-healing material looks pretty amazing in the following promotional video:

Pretty amazing right? I’ve tried similar self-healing cases and scratched the heck out of them, and ruined them. Keep in mind that the scratch testing in the above video creates very fine scratches, which are fairly easily mended by the case. However if you put deep scratches in the glacier, they’ll likely remain there forever.

My biggest complaint about the glacier case is that it doesn’t form a lip above the phone’s screen to protect it from scratches if placed screen-side down on a table. A lip would also help prevent the phone landing screen-first after an accidental drop.

Overall however, the Innerexile glacier provides decent protection to the corners, sides, and back of the case with its rigid self-healing material. The buttons provide additional attractive and customizable protection for your phone, while not adding any unnecessary weight. I would recommend this case to anyone looking to protect their phone without distracting from the iPhone’s design itself.
