Distil Union describes the Wally bifold minimalist wallet as the “super-slim leather billfold wallet.” There’s actually truth in advertising here. The Wally bifold is super-slim, made of leather and includes a money-clip built right into the wallet. It is, by far, the best minimalist wallet I have tried. I’ve been using one of the $59.99 wallets and love it.
Distil Union sent me four of their current products for review. Today we will take a look at the Wally bifold, but in the coming weeks we’ll also have a look at three other wallets the company offers. For me this one is, by far the best of the bunch and, in fact, the best minimalist wallet I have used.
The Wally bifold is a front pocket friendly billfold with money clip. We’ve eliminated the excess materials of most wallets for the slimmest profile, while Wallys distinctive pulltab gives you easy card access. Crafted with argentine leather in black or brown at distal Union.com for $59.99.
Available in smooth Ninja Black and full-grain Cowboy Brown, the wallet is properly sized to hold U.S. Dollars. That translates to it being 2.8″ tall, 4.2″ wide, and 0.3″ thin. It can hold bills up to 2.6″ tall so, if you carry currency other than US dollars, make sure to measure the bills before ordering the wallet.

I’ve been using a wide array of minimalist wallets. Most have either been made from plastic, metal or cheap leather. The Wally is different. Its leather is soft and supple, rich and refined. It looks… and feels… great. Better still, because it is a bifold this particular minimalist wallet holds quite a bit. Each side of the wallet has space for a few cards and a pull tab for easily ejecting the cards when you need them. In addition, because the pull tabs are two different colors you will always know which types of cards are where. For example, I have all my credit cards and other purchasing-related items on one side and my driver’s license, health insurance card and store courtesy cards on the other. It keeps things organized and I pretty much know where the card I want will be. It works rather well.

Distil Union offers “5 Tips to Slim Your Wallet: Simply Carry Less and Lighten Your Everyday.” The points are actually worth the read. for example, they suggest,
Take pictures of your receipts No reason to store receipts (or mementos) in your wallet – your wallet is not a library. Let an old shoebox be your nostalgic archives, and use apps like Evernote or Concur to keep electronic copies of receipts. Or, simply take a picture of the receipt to keep track of it. YOU CAN DO THIS. YOU CAN SLIM YOUR WALLET.
And then while it is a bit self-serving, they note you should, “Get a thinner wallet Whether it’s psychological or physical, having a slimmer wallet is a great way to reinforce the idea and behavior of carrying less!”
