I bought my Apple Watch intending to return it before the two week trial period was over. I found I really like Apple’s first smartwatch and, as you might expect, I ended up keeping it. That means it’s time to accessorize. My first extra… the Bluelounge Kosta. It is a low-profile charging station that is simple as simple can be.

As Bluelounge explains:

“Charge your Apple Watch the way it’s meant to be charged. Kosta is a coaster that manages your existing Apple Watch charger giving your Apple Watch a convenient place to rest and recharge. Unlike other stands, Kosta puts your watch in the perfect position for Nightstand mode, on it’s side.”

Yes, the Kosta is a small charging coaster. It works with the shipped Apple Watch charging cable and, when the two are used together, creates a great place to recharge your watch each night.

The Kosta features:

  • Non-Scratch/Slip Material: A soft silicone material protects the Apple Watch from scuffs and scratches that come from being charged on a hard surface.
  • Magnetic Center: A magnetic center, your charger stays neatly in place at the center of Kosta when not in use.
  • A Small Footprint: Makes the Kosta an understated yet essential accessory that is discreet enough to use by your bed, at your desk, or any place you like to recharge your Apple Watch.

Using the Kosta is quite simple. You simply feed the charger cable through the opening in the material and connect the charging disk to the center of the Kosta magnetically. You then pass the cable through the channel Bluelounge has smartly built into the underneath side of the Kosta so it feeds away from the accessory. From there you plug the charging cable’s USB end into an AC adapter or USB port.

At first I had some difficulty positioning the watch neatly on the Kosta but once the cable loosened up a bit and I learned exactly how to use it properly I came to appreciate the simple but effective design.

Available in Dark Grey, Light Grey, or Lime Green, the 3.35” diameter Kosta is simple. At $14.95 it is also an inexpensive accessory that won’t take up extra space next to your bed or on your desk. It isn’t as refined as some other charging stands but the low profile is a huge advantage if you aren’t looking for your Apple Watch to become part of your decor. If you want that you should look elsewhere but, if you are looking for a convenient way to have a dedicated spot to charge your Apple Watch this is a great, and inexpensive option.

What I Like: Simple; Holds the charging disk in place when not being used; Low profile; Available in three colors; Takes up minimal space.

What Needs Improvement: Not as refined as some available Apple Watch docks; Requires you to supply your own cable; Took some time to use it properly.
