This is going to sound like a total #firstworldproblem (because it is), but one of the issues I run into when I switch between my iPhone 6+ and Huawei Mate S is that without bringing along a spare microUSB cable, many of the smaller battery packs that I own won’t work.

I don’t want to carry extra cables, and with the TYLT Energi 5K+ I don’t have to. Unlike most available OS specific battery packs, this one has built-in microUSB and Lightning cables. It’s even got a USB port for those times when you really need to attach a spare charger, but I’m getting ahead of myself.

The package includes the battery pack and a microUSB charging cable.

The TYLT Energi 5K+ measures approximately 5.6″ long by 2.75″ wide, and it’s just a smidge over 0.5″ thick; in other words, it is about the size of many 5.5″ screen smartphones, and it is only a little bit thicker. The Energi 5K+ holds a 5,200mAh battery, which is just a bit less than two charges for an iPhone 6 Plus.

The TYLT Energi 5K+ comes in black with your choice of three color stripes: red, blue, or black.  At the top there is a microUSB cable, and on the bottom there is a Lightning cable. The battery uses 3 Amp rapid charging from all three output sources for speedy charging.

The other side has an LED button that when pressed begins the charging process, but that also indicates whether the battery is done charging, as well as how much charge it has left.

The TYLT Energi 5K+ is slim enough to fit in a pocket or bag, and it is powerful enough to be worth carrying. I like that it has two types of built-in chargers, and because of that I don’t have to put any thought into which battery to bring along.
