I tend to carry my phone ‘naked’, but have always demanded that my kids and my wife use a case. Since discovering thin and light cases can provide excellent protection we’ve used several, and the iGlaze Armour for iPhone 6/6s is a solid option for when you need a case that is unobtrusive and reasonably priced.

From Moshi:

“Clad your iPhone in lustrous elegance with Moshi’s iGlaze Armour hardshell case. Featuring a diamond-cut aluminum backplate and a shock-absorbing inner-shell, iGlaze Armour safeguards your iPhone while giving it a truly unique finish. A raised bezel protects your display when iPhone is laid flat, and the volume and power buttons are fully-encased. If you’re looking for a protective case that best preserves your iPhone’s sophisticated look and feel without adding bulk, then Moshi’s iGlaze Armour should be your top pick.”

Here are some of the features:
* Diamond-cut aluminum backplate with a unique metallic finish.
* Proprietary hybrid material provides ample shock absorption and scratch resistance.
* Fully-encased volume and power buttons.
* Raised bezel protects the display when iPhone is placed display-side down.
* Designed and tested to be “flash-friendly” with a customized flash cut-out.

Personally I find it amazing how much protection is offered by a case with minimal size that simply surrounds the iPhone and has a raised bezel. This allows for a wide variety of minimal cases that appeal to users through their features and/or aesthetics. The Moshi iGlaze Armour offers a fairly standard feature set, but by virtue of advanced materials hopes to prove worthwhile to phone owners seeking a more durable minimal case.

When I talk about a minimal case, I mean basically a bumper case, one that easily slides over your phone and pops off just as easily. The iGlaze Armour installs and removes easily but was never too loose-the fit and finish was well executed.

Once installed every basic function worked perfectly: volume, screen, flash, lightning port, and earpod cable installation. While this is something we take for granted on a $40 case, my kids have bought cheap cases where functionality was compromised, so it is good to check out the level of detailed execution Moshi has in making their cases.

When it comes to justifying a $40 price for a fairly basic case, Moshi uses advanced materials and processing to provide a value addition to the iGlaze Armour. And after being used over the course of a few months by two members of our household, I can attest that the case looks nearly brand new.

The first problem we encountered was trying to use anything but the standard earpod cable in the audio out jack. Plugging into a speaker in the house or car using an audio cable proved problematic as the cutout was just too small for anything larger than an Apple cable. The result in both cases was to first work hard to get things plugged in, then eventually start popping the end out of the case to make the connection, then remove the case to plug it in, and eventually the case never went back on.

Perhaps just as bad was that no one in my house would actually choose to buy this case based on the aesthetics. It blends fairly well with the iPhone color palette, but offers no visual appeal.

Overall the Moshi iGlaze Armour for iPhone 6/6s is a solidly designed and built case that will last you a very long time – if you don’t care much about plugging in an audio cable and aren’t particularly concerned with aesthetics.

MSRP: $39.95

What I Like: Thin and light protection; Solid quality and build construction; Reasonable price.

What Needs Improvement: Makes access to audio out jack more difficult than similar cases; Aesthetically unimpressive.
