Sprint has just rolled out a 50% off promotion. Bring your device(s) to Sprint and they’ll reduce your monthly service fee 50%. On the surface this might seem attractive, peel back the offer and you’ll find the deal is loaded with terms and conditions. It probably makes more sense to people moving from expensive plans with early termination fees.
The “gotchas” begin at the outset of this deal with the wording “available on most plans – savings until 2018. Offer ends 01/07/2016. Savings through 01/08/2018. Requires a valid port from AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile active wireless line to a consumer account.”
Specifically, this 50% off deal includes:
- Bring your phone to Sprint (extra $25/mo if they provide one on subsidy) – must port one number, can add up to 9 additional
- Save 50% off your existing bill through January 2018
- Receive up to $650 per line in reimbursement for any ETF (must trade in phone)
For anyone on T-Mobile, the fine print should be a deal breaker:
Plans exclude unlimited music and video streaming, data carryover, tethering, and cloud options that other carrier plans may offer.
For anyone on Verizon or AT&T the savings is only applied against existing standard plans. Grandfathered unlimited is not switchable to Sprint at a discount.
New Sprint customers can sign up from November 20, 2015 through January 7, 2016 with the promotion lasting through January 8, 2018!
