Spotify today announced a change to their family plans which expands the number of family members (up to 6) included for one monthly price of $14.99. This pricing change shouldn’t have been a surprise as Google Play and Apple Music have identical family offers.

In October 2015 Spotify Family was introduced at a much higher rate:

Spotify Family today, a way to share a premium subscription with up to four other Spotify users. Pricing starts at $14.99 for two users per month, $19.99 for three, $24.99 for four, and all the way up to $29.99 for all five users.

Today’s revamped family plans at $14.99 for 6 users make Spotify more competitive and expands their previous offer of 2 users for $14.99.

Family music plans are usually more desirable than simply sharing an account since different family members can have vastly different musical taste. Today’s music services often suggest new artists and playlists based on prior listening habits.

Via Spotify:

With the Spotify Family Plan, listeners get:

Separate accounts. Everyone gets their own account with their own playlists, saved music and personal recommendations.

Premium for everyone. Everyone on the plan gets the full Spotify Premium experience.

Listen offline to more than 30 million songs.

Play any song, anytime, on any device. No restrictions. No ads. Better pricing. Music at your fingertips has never been cheaper for up to 6 people — all collected on a single bill.

Spotify’s new Family Plan is now available to all users globally*, so treat the entire house to Premium accounts from Spotify this summer.
