Moshi makes some fantastic accessories for mobile devices. Their Endura Case is one example. It is not only Moshi’s toughest case, but it also works with two fantastic accessories that are perfect for active people who love their iPhone. The three parts of the system are pricey but are worth it for people those who run and bike.

First up is the Endura Case for the iPhone 6S. The case is tough, it looks good and, best of all, it is highly protective thanks to a great soft material that surrounds the iPhone and an interior honeycomb pattern that is designed to keep the phone safe from bumps and bruises. The company referees to this as, “shock-absorbing HexCore polymer.”

The protection of the phone is extended to the ports on the bottom. They are kept safe behind a protective tab of material that covers all of the ports while leaving the microphone safe thanks to a small hole in the bottom.

There’s one more feature and it is the one that makes the Endura case special. That feature? The Moshi MetaMount. This small metallic ring at the back of the case adds minimal thickness to the case while creating a secure location for the armband and handrail accessory to connect.

Here’s what Moshi says about the case:

Endura is Moshi’s toughest case that’s rugged enough to withstand extreme drops, yet slim enough to slide effortlessly into your pocket. Thanks to Moshi’s shock-absorbing HexCore™ polymer, Endura protects your iPhone from 10-foot drops on to concrete. The case’s hard-wearing exterior is accented with premium metallized buttons and its carbon fiber pattern presents an understated style for any occasion. Endura surpasses the functionality found in other ruggedized cases with a discreet rear connector that securely attaches your iPhone to Moshi’s MetaMount Armband for running and Bike Mount for cycling. Two iVisor screen protectors are included for touchscreen protection and a precision-tooled insert makes the case water-resistant (IPX5) to shield against rain, snow and dust. Endura is the perfect protective case for active users who require a case that can weather extreme abuse while looking slim and professional.

Features:

  • Proprietary HexCore polymer protects your iPhone from 10-foot (3-meter) drops onto concrete.
  • Premium styling with metallized buttons and rear carbon fiber pattern.
Water-resistant: IPX5-certified to protect against Rai, snow, and dust.
  • Includes two iVisor screen protectors for complete 360-degree protection.
  • Built-in connector for mounting to a Moshi MetaMount Armband or Bike Mount.

The case is available in Carbon Black, comes with both a back and a white screen protector, adds just over one and a half ounces, and is $59.95. Check it out.

The case is nice, but the real reason one might want to use this case is the Armband Mount and the Handlebar Mount.

For me, the Moshi Armband Mount is the more compelling of the two. The armband is a thick loop of soft material. It has plenty of stretch, and a thick Velcro pad that holds it securely around your arm. The Moshi name is on the section with the Velcro tab.

The plastic portion of the mount has two half circles the connect inside the MetaMount on the case. A plunger brings the two halves of the armband together and, when released, the two halves return to their ordinal position and lock securely to the Endura case. It holds the phone in portrait along your arm so it won’t get in the way while you run or walk while wearing the phone.

As Moshi explains:

Moshi’s Armband Mount works with our Endura case (sold separately) to keep your iPhone at your fingertips while running. Never fumble around with getting your phone in and out of sleeves or pouches again. A sturdy MetaMount mechanical lock keeps your iPhone securely in place and features a quick-release button so you can remove it instantly to reply to a text or answer a call. The strap is made from soft, breathable elastic and the back of the mount features an anti-slip silicone pad to help keep your device in place.

image

Features:

  • Works with Moshi’s rugged Endura case sold separately.
  • Precision-tooled MetaMount connector and quick-release button.
  • Breathable soft elastic strap fits arm circumferences from 9.1 to 15.8 inches.
  • Anti-slip silicone pad to keep your iPhone in place on skin or spandex.
  • Together with Endura, protects your iPhone from drops, dust, sweat, and rain.

The armband is $19.95. When purchased with the case, you are looking at close to $80. That’s not inexpensive, but considering how much a new iPhone costs, or even what a screen repair might be if you drop your phone, that strikes me as a reasonable expenditure. Check it out here.

Finally, there is the Moshi Handlebar Mount. This accessory is ideal for someone who bikes, but it is also useful for use with a motorcycle or stroller. It securely connects to the handlebar of the item with which you will be using it. Then, with the same mechanism as the armband, the iPhone case snap in. From there you can have your iPhone accessible to you while you ride… Or stroll. This is especially useful if, for example, you are going for a ride and have a biking app that clocks your location, speed, and other important data.

As Moshi explains:

Keep your map, music, and favorite apps clearly in view with Moshi’s Handlebar Mount. Created for Endura (sold separately), simply snap in your case to mount your phone to the handlebars of your bike, motorcycle, or even a stroller. Unwieldy plastic pouches or docks are no match for this mount: a precision-tooled MetaMount connector locks your device securely in place and rotates so you can view your screen horizontally or vertically. A quick-release button lets you quickly remove your iPhone to take photos and calls. The mount’s toolless design makes installation as easy as twisting a knob, and its inner spacer accommodates several handlebar sizes. Together with Endura, the Handlebar Mount helps protect against drops, dust, rain and mud even on the roughest rides, all while keeping your phone safely at your fingertips.

I’m not much of a rider, but I can see this being a great accessory for someone who loves to take long rides on their road or mountain bike. In fact, I have a few friends who are serious riders, and I expect the review sample will end up with one of them pretty quickly.

Features:

  • Works with Moshi’s rugged Endura case sold separately.
  • Supports both horizontal vertical viewing modes.
  • Precision-tooled MetaMount connector and quick-release button.
  • Toolless design for quick and easy installation.
  • Works on any type of tubular handlebar: bikes, motorcycles, and even strollers.
  • Inner spacer fits handlebar sizes of 22.2/25.4/31.8 mm.

The handlebar mount is $24.95. Together with the Endura case and the armband you are looking at just over $100. For that $100, you get a way to keep your iPhone nicely protected without too much bulk, an armband that will let you run with your iPhone in comfort, and a handlebar mount that lets you position your iPhone within eyes-read in either portrait or landscape. For the iPhone-loving athlete, that seems like a good investment to me. Check out the case, armband and handlebar mount here.

Wha I Like: Case offer good protection without adding too much weight or bulk; Case seals the bottom ports so your phone is better protected from rain, snow or dust; Case comes with both a white and a black screen protector; Armband is comfortable and holds the iPhone securely; Handlebar mount keeps your iPhone safe and viewable in either portrait or landscape

What Needs Improvement: The complete package may seem a bit pricey but you get a lot for what it offers; Only a smart iPhone case solution if you are a serious runner or biker (or baby-stroller-er I guess)
