Elgato Introduces Thunderbolt 3 Dock with Dual 4K Display Support

A personal favorite of mine, Elgato announced today their Thunderbolt 3 Dock, which has been a hit so far here at CES 2017.

The Thunderbolt 3 Dock by Elgato looks to be one of the best ways, if not THE way you’ll want to connect and charge your MacBook Pro or Windows notebook with just a single cable.

With the ability to add two additional displays without compromising 4k resolution, the Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Dock will run on a super smooth 60 Hz frame rate even while giving you three individual but SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports that will allows you to connect those extra devices that (some) devices wouldn’t give you *cough* (Apple), and do it at  full speed with up to 1.5 amps of power.

Elgato made it a mission to give you built-in Gigabit Ethernet for the ultimate network performance, so you won’t experience cut outs, and shortages, something I’m excited to put to full use and wish I had here at CES in press rooms.  There’s also an amplified audio outfit if you are the type to listen to tunes and block out the outside world at Starbucks, on top of a separate microphone input if you do things like podcast from your device.

“Apple’s sleek new Mac notebooks deserve a clean workspace that’s free of hubs and dongles.” said Markus Fest, General Manager of Elgato, “With the new Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Dock, it’s literally one cable and you’re all set.”

“For the first time, one computer port connects to Thunderbolt devices, every display, and billions of USB devices”, said Jason Ziller, Intel’s Director of Thunderbolt Marketing,“Products like Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Dock help highlight what Thunderbolt 3 makes possible.”

With up to 85 watts of power, the Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Dock continues Elgato’s reputation of devices that are not only useful but work straight out of the packaging, and with cutting edge features, if you have a new laptop you received over the holidays, this is one device that should be on your wish list after this week. Available for $299.95 later this quarter, you can find more details on Elgato’s site today.
