D-Link, one of the leaders in home security and monitoring systems announced a product that anyone who loves Apple’s HomeKit platform, or just smart home tech in general definitely need to check out.
The Omna 180 Cam HD, which is THE Apple HomeKit enabled camera I’ve been hoping for. The Omna 180 Cam HD just looks immaculate. With an elegant design, the Omna is the first in D-Link’s Omna family, and it does so in big fashion. With a comprehensive 180-degree field of view, you can easily monitor your surroundings without having to place the camera in a corner in order to get a field of vision. With Full HD in 1080p video quality, your playback for surveillance will be crystal clear. Since the camera is HomeKit enabled not only can you access the camera directly from Apple’s “Home” app, but you can receive rich notifications including snapshots of what is happening in your home when motion is detected. But it doesn’t work alone as it actually benefits from the other HomeKit enabled devices in your home thanks to scenes you set up, so in the event the Omna 180 Cam HD senses motion, it can turn on lights and appliances to alert someone in your home.
What’s more is the D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD has a two-way audio so when you’re not home but someone is, you can listen as well as speak using the built-in mic and speaker to still make your presence known. With night vision, you can see from 16 feet away in complete darkness. With local recording, you can plug a microSDXC card up to 128gb into the Omna 180 Cam for direct video monitoring to avoid monthly fees, or you can watch live courtesy of the free Omna app in the App Store. No price is known as of yet but the Omna 180 Cam HD will be available later this quarter. For more information you can head over to D-Link’s site today.
