LG took to MWC 2017 here in Barcelona today to announce their latest flagship, the LG G6!

Boasting some absolutely incredible new features, the LG G6 is THE phone anyone who consumes media on the go would love to have. The first of its kind, the smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch QHD (2880×1440 resolution) FullVision display giving a 18:9 display which compared to the standard 16:9 means that users will get more viewing space for media, and even more screen retail space when it comes to playing video games. What’s interesting is that LG decided to move away from their modules of poor models, sticking to making the phone great in terms of audio and gaming. You can tell that LG made sure they listened to he consumer by infusing wants and needs desired by the users of their devices, more specifically the G5 users of 2016. What’s more is LG is actually offering up their “G6 Game Collection” promotion that gives in-game content which would normally retail to around $200 some awesome games including Temple Run 2, Spider-Man Unlimited, and SimCityBuildIt.

But just because LG is ofarting up media bundles doesn’t mean this phone is just a game, as the G6’s device itself is great and feature rich. Although there’s no curved screen to my disappointment, the G6 does fit in the hand comfortably which at 5.7-inches may have scared some away due to it’s bigger form factor. Sculpted from aluminum and glass, the LG G comes in black, platinum and white, although the white will not be available in the US to begin with. The smartphones metal frame surrounds the device however the back of the device is a soft matte finish that makes holding a bit more comfortable that others on the market.

There are no removable batteries with the LG G6 like the V20 we reviewed a few months ago it does come complete with a 3,300mAH battery which is enough to get you through your normal day-to-day. The G6 also will feature 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, bundled with a Snapdragon 821 processor. Many assume that the Galaxy S8 will be the first to have a faster processor that 821, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that LG opted for this, but maybe in the future models. I do like the fact that you can expand to up to 2TB, yes, you heard me, two terabytes of storage courtesy of a microSD card. I can see myself taking plenty of photos with the G6 thanks to it’s 13-megapixel rear camera. There’s a 5-megapixel front camera if you’re into selfies as well, if you’re into Snapchat filters. LG’s highlighted selfie feature, or “Square Camera Mode” will give users the ability to view photos in one window versus scrolling through their gallery in order to check them out. For users who do use apps such as Instagram and Snapchat, the Square camera mode allows you to choose from three different ratios, then immediately begin to edit and upload them all from the camera mode.

LG states that the G6 will come with Android’s Nougat pre-installed into the device at launch, which should be great as your phone on the go. You will get wireless charging including quick charge features you see from the flagship Android smartphones not he market but it’s worth noting that wireless charging will be US-based only. This seems to be a trend with LG, keeping exclusives to certain parts of the world, from colors down to particular specs.

Going out to the beach? No need for that Ziploc bag for your phone as the G6 has an IP68 water and dust resistance, so your new smartphone can be immersed in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to thirty minutes at a time. Also designed to withstand waist-high drops, the G6 is built to last. Finally, with Google Assistant built-in, you don’t have to always go on a browser search to find the answers that you’ll need if you only have one-hand available at the time. Working in tandem with LG’s native apps you can get everyday tasks done more efficiently.

“The LG G6 offers users new visual and manual experiences, as it marries an expanded screen with the convenience of one-handed use,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG will continue to lead smartphone innovation with a focus on convenience and reliability in order to exceed consumer expectations.”

Available first in South Korea on March 9th, you can expect the LG G6 to hit our US shores late March, or the beginning of April. In terms of prices, you can expect the device to possibly be $549, but could be upwards of $700. For more information head over to LG.com today.
