V-MODA headphones are, consistently, my favorite line of headphones. And my favorite V-MODA offering? The V-MODA Crossfade Wireless Over-Ear headphones. The headphones offer the best of both worlds. They are amazing wired headphones and, fantastic wireless headphones too. Now the company is launched the next generation of their wireless headphones. The V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless Over-Ear headphones look amazing!
The new V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless Over-Ear headphones are, “Next-generation performance in analog cabled or Bluetooth modes, plus new colors and CliqFold mechanism.” And if they are anything like their predecessors they promise to offer a great wireless listening experience.
V-MODA’?s first wireless headphones were based on the amazing Crossfade M-100. (Read my review.) The Crossfade M-100 headphones blew me away and were one of my favorite pair of wired headphones. They still are. The Crossfade Wireless headphones were based on the Crossfade M-100 headphones. (Read my review.) They added wireless functionality while keeping all of the design and features that made the Crossfade M-100’s so great. The new V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless Headphones are the next iteration of this successful design. They improve sound quality by adding Hi-Res Audio certification, employ larger cushions, add new color offerings, and have longer battery life. All that and they maintain V-MODA’s tuning and the iconic CliqFold design that make the Crossfade Wireless a great pair of travel headphones.

The V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless headphones are powered by new dual-diaphragm 50mm drivers. The employ a hi-resolution CCAW coil and have an extended frequency range from 5Hz to 40kHz. The Hi-Res Audio means, “you can now connect to a lossless music service or 24bit/96kHz playback sources and experience an increased dynamic range, with more precise and sparkling high-frequency definition.”
V-MODA wanted the new headphones to continue the tradition of their predecessor and allow users to switch between wired and wireless modes without noticing a difference. They promise great sound when plugged in and the same great sound when you go cord-free. The Qualcomm aptX audio codec employed offers near CD-quality sound over Bluetooth. The Bluetooth inside the headphones offers the traditional range of up to 33′ (10 meters). I wish they had the increased distance we are seeing built into some wireless headphones, but the 33′ is by no means a deal-breaker for me.
I’m thrilled V-Moda kept the CliqFold Mechanism and Exoskeleton Hard-shell Case that was part of the winning design of the original Crossfade Wireless. The two come together to make this a great pair of headphones for home or travel. As the company notes,
Crossfade 2 Wireless is built to travel, thanks to the innovative patent-pending CliqFold design that folds down to fit into the deceptively small travel case, offering protection from the rigors of the road. With newly added vents (V-PORT?) to ensure that air can circulate within to let the headphones breathe after a live performance or a workout, the case also has room to store charging and audio cables along with other extras like USB drives and earplugs.
The Crossfade 2 comes in a variety of color including Matte Black, Matte White, and Rose Gold. V-MODA, after all, is as much about style as they are great sound. And trust me, after reviewing numerous pair of V-MODA headphones I have no doubt these will sound amazing.
