I recently reviewed Human Solution’s tabletop sit-stand desk converter. It’s an impressive way to turn a standard desk into something much more. For those who want the full sit-stand desk experience, however, there is the UPLIFT Stand Up Desk. I have one for review and love it so much I bought one for my office at work!

Human Solution introduces the UPLIFT Desk stating,

So you’ve had your eye on our adjustable height desks – don’t forget about our environmentally friendly and renewable Stand Up Desk with 1″ Thick Bamboo Top from UPLIFT.

That’s exactly the model they sent for review. At just $499 it is priced nicely. You get a lot for your money. For those who need a bit more, there are also add-ons you can get for an additional price. We’ll look at a few of those later in this review and a separate post.

The 42” by 30” desk has an MSRP of $1237 but is available on the company website for just $499. For my review, they were kind enough to send one that is 60” by 30” and has a 1” thick Bamboo Curved top. It has an MSRP of $1237 as well but is currently just $659. It is a good price for an amazingly large and sturdy desk. For work, I opted to get something even bigger. That ended up costing me $699 plus the price of the add-ons I got with it. More on that in a bit.

Here’s a look at my review sample.

Both desks came with a black frame that pretty much disappears beneath the desk. The review sample shipped without holes for wiring.

For my work desk, I opted to get two grommets cut into it with one being a simple cable opening and the other providing tabletop power. That added $39 to the price.

In both cases, I got the UPLIFT Advanced Digital Memory Keypad. It lets you have four different pre-sets as opposed to the basic one that is included in the price. It simply has buttons to raise and lower the desk. The UPLIFT Advanced Digital Memory Keypad is worth the additional $4 price since it allows you to set one memory button for standing and another for sitting while leaving two additional memory buttons so someone else can set their preferred heights as well.

Other options include an advanced wire management system with a clamp on surge protector for $68 and casters for $29. You can also get a CPU Holder, a keyboard tray, a modesty panel, a half-circle desk drawer, monitor arms and more. Each adds a bit to the price but allows you to get exactly the system you want and need.

Running down the two different setups looks like this:

My review sample is the 60” by 30” model a 1” curved Bamboo top, black legs, the advanced controller and nothing more. It would have had a total price of $639.

For my 72” by 30” office desk, I decided to follow the company’s suggestion that you can…

Customize and accessorize yours with a helpful array of ergo-friendly gear, like a keyboard tray, monitor arm, or even a treadmill desk for even more ways to increase movement while you work.

I got the 1” bamboo curved top, black legs, one wire grommet and one power grommet, the advanced controller, the advanced wire management kit with a clamp-on surge protector and the half-circle desk drawer. I was also able to take advantage of their special which offers $150 of free Siddons. This included a standing mat, headphone hooks, a surge protector and a task light. My total price was $869. That’s pretty amazing considering what some of the other desks I looked at cost!

The desktop itself is impressive. The bamboo looks great, is made from sustainable materials and is sturdy as hell! As the company notes:

At almost twice the thickness of our competitors’ bamboo standing desks, you’ll have a cost-effective workstation that’s as durable as it is beautiful. The desktop is UV-cured using a clean, energy-efficient process with no VOCs or pollutants, making it one of the healthiest standing desks on the market today. With a weight capacity of 355 pounds, you can be sure your monitors and desk equipment will have a stable new home base for more productive work instantly.

I also opted for the curved edge because, as they explain, it just makes sense!

Our Curve desktops feature a softly-beveled ergo edge on the side closest to you, allowing you to get closer to your work and stay within your Neutral Reach Zone for even more working comfort.

The curve gives the desk a bit of interest but, more than that is functional in that it lets you access everything a bit more easily. This is especially the case with my long work desk!

Putting the desk together took a bit of time but was rather easy. I simply followed the step by step instructions and, in no time, had the review sample together and ready for use. By the time my work desk arrived, I was an old hand at putting these desks together. It took about half the time of the review sample.

Here’s a look at the process.

One of the things that impressed me the most was that the base for the two desks is the same. You simply adjust it to fit the size of the desktop you are going to be using.

That means, for example, that if I want to change the look of my desk at work, I can simply get a different desktop and put it in place of the one that is currently there.

Sturdy and stunning, take your workstation to new heights while staying within your budget. Enjoy a sit-stand workstation that allows you more movement while you work, giving you the option to switch up sitting and standing positions with the push of a button.

Based upon the fact that once the review sample arrived, I went out and bought a second desk for my office at temple, it should be obvious that I simply love this desk. It has a slim, minimalist design that looks great. I love the look and feel of the bamboo top and appreciate the fact that it is made from sustainable wood. I appreciate how easy it was to put together. Yes, it took a little bit of time, but the process was easy and straightforward. Once it was together, I was impressed with just how solid the desk is. Whether I am in seated mode or using it as a standing desk, there is no give to the desktop and no sway to the legs. It is solid as solid can be. More than that, however, I love the fact that the desk goes from sit-mode to stand-mode and back to sit-mode in mere seconds. It isn’t loud, and the transition is smooth. This is especially nice when you are using it with the advanced controller and are able to have the desk transition with the mere push of a button. Finally, adding in all of the various accessories that are available makes this a desk that can be designed to work the way you best work and does so at a remarkably reasonable price.

There are a variety of different sit-stand desks currently available, we’ve even had reviews of some of them here on the site, but, for my money, the UPLIFT Desk from Human Solution is the way to go. I’m not just a product reviewer, but I’m also a product customer! Check it out and design your own here.

  1. I bought one of these once I spotted that you ordered a second with your own money. Mine came in yesterday.

Start to finish it took me about 2 hours to fully assemble and get everything back on the desk (computer, etc). Someone more coordinated than me probably could do it in an hour. I was working in a smaller room so I spent some time making room, etc. I’m pretty sure I could build another in under 1 hour.

This desk is super sturdy and I was happy to have zero problems with any screws or connections. One of the problems I often have with putting together furniture is stripped screws or screws that don’t drive into the wood cleanly. Zero problems here.

I think part of what made it easy was I purchased a $14 screwdriver kit at Home Depot that had a variety of screw heads. Most people probably already have those but my kids are not good at replacing tools after they’ve taken them somewhere else to use…

Standing vs sitting is going to take some getting used to but I’m definitely liking the desk so far.

Shipping was surprisingly fast. I put my order in on July 20, received a shipping notice the next day at noon. My order arrived on 7/27 via UPS. Total was about $760 and I think I matched your configuration pretty closely.

  2. Just wanted to say thanks for the review! I watched the video, checked out all the photos and etc. Turns out my preference was basically exactly the same as yours (the 60″ x 30″ with the bamboo top, ergo curved edge, black frame and memory keypad). The total cost for the desk itself came to $769 before taxes and some extra accessories, since I also got the 3-drawer file cabinet and the locking under desk drawer. Pretty similar to your cost for the same sized desk, considering it’s now 3yrs later.

How are you liking it so far after these years?
