Incipio has released a case that will not only protect your 10.5” iPad Pro but also lets you make the most of it. The Faraday for 10.5” iPad Pro is just $39.99 but offers significant protection. Plus, it looks as sleek and stylish as your iPad! The case comes in Black, Navy, and Red, and I highly recommend it!

At under $40, you might not expect much from an iPad case, but the Faraday from Incipio delivers a quality product at a fair price. The folio-style case is made from a hard material they refer to as Plextonium. That’s a fancy name for a type of polycarbonate and results in a hard shell that grabs hold of your iPad and keeps it safe. The exterior of the case is made from a vegan leather. That’s a fancy term for a synthetic material the approximates the look and feel of leather without costing what leather costs and without an animal needing to die for your iPad’s protection.

From Incipio:

Make your iPad Pro more versatile than before with Incipio’s Faraday™ Folio. Crafted with professionals in mind, the Faraday Folio features a luxurious vegan leather cover and fold over design with magnetic closure. With the Faraday™ Folio, your device can easily be used in a variety of viewing and typings modes to meet your needs. Created with protection and utility in mind, the Faraday™ Folio features a rigid Plextonium polycarbonate hard shell to protect iPad Pro from everyday wear and tear and bumps. Available in three eye-catching colors, choose the one that matches your style most.

The shell holds the iPad securely while providing al the necessary cutouts for the controls, speakers, and cameras. One thing I appreciate this case, and one of the main reasons it is the case I am currently using, is that it leaves the iPad’s smart contacts exposed. That means I can still take full advantage of the Logitech Logo Base charging stand. It charges the iPad using the smart contacts and is a simple way to keep your iPad going all day long. The cover of the case wraps all the way around the iPad’s screen, and there is a bit of extra material that then goes BEHIND the iPad and is held closed thanks to the magic of magnets. I love this design because it completely covers the iPad when you are not using it.

And, thanks to the design of the case, the extra material that goes BEHIND the iPad does not add to its thickness.

The case is 10” long, by 7.09” wide by .55” deep and weighs in at just over .8 lbs. That translates to a highly protective case that doesn’t add too significantly to the weight or bulk of the iPad.

When open the Faraday can be used in a variety of ways. You can fold the cover to the back and use it in tablet mode.

You can fold the cover around itself and use it in typing mode.

Or you can stand the iPad up in landscape and use it in viewing mode. And while it does not include a keyboard, if you do have a Bluetooth keyboard you can set it up to approximate a mini-laptop.

Admittedly, the flap that wraps around the back can get a bit in the way when using the iPad in viewing or tablet mode, but after playing around with it for a while, I found that I was better able to keep it out of the way when not in use.

Features:

  • Rigid Plextonium polycarbonate hard shell and vegan leather front cover provide full protection
  • Magnetic fold over closure keeps your device secure, while the microfiber inner lining provides additional protection against bumps and drops
  • Slim, protective, and versatile design

I like the Faraday a lot and, while the navy of my review sample may not look the most professional, it is the case I am currently using day to day. At $39.99 it is an inexpensive way to get the most from your powerful iPad Pro without adding too much bulk.

What I Like: Looks and feels great; Adds protection without bulk; Had there different modes of use; Cover wraps around the iPad and is secured using magnets; Lease the Smart Connector free and exposed for use

What Needs Improvement: The flap that keeps the case closed can get in the way
