There are so many interesting Android phones available now that choosing a new one can be daunting. Have you considered the new LG V30? It has a beautiful screen, an exceptional camera, and lovely thin bezels. But what more does the V30 have going for it?

Well, let’s start with the specs. The LG V30 has a 6″ QuadHD+ screen with an 18:9 ratio (2880 x 1440 pixels). The phone comes with 64GB onboard memory and 4GB RAM; it can also accept up to a 2 TB memory card (not that anyone is making any of those yet).
The LG V30 has dual 16MP and 13MP cameras on the back, and a 5MP front-facing camera. It has a 3300 mAh battery, offers wireless quick charging, and it has an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating. It measures just under 6″ tall by almost 3″ wide by about 0.3″ thick; in other words, the LG V6 has a larger screen than the iPhone 7 Plus, but it is quite a bit smaller and thinner. Nice.
The OLED screen is large and absolutely gorgeous; colors are vibrant and true. I’m already enjoying streaming Netflix on my review unit as well as reading books on the Kindle app. Listening to music with headphones (whether wired or streaming) should be great, as the V30’s audio has been tuned by Bang & Olufsen, and it has “32-bit playback for immersive audio that more closely resembles the original performance.” I look forward to checking that out!
I’ve already mentioned how great the newly designed camera should be, and although I haven’t had my review unit long enough to dig that deeply into it just yet (I received it a couple of hours before I started writing this post), I’ve already noticed that the V30 does well in poor light, and there are plenty of ways to tweak photos and videos built right into the phone.
The LG V30’s design is reminiscent of the LG G6 we reviewed a few months ago. The V30 is beautiful to look at, large enough to enjoy using for watching videos and for comfortably reading on, and yet it’s not so large that it can’t be operated with one hand. Its body is curved just enough so that it has no hard edges, and it’s surprisingly light.
The fact that the LG V30 is IP68 dust and water resistant, and that it’s passed 14 different military-standard durability tests (MIL-STD-810G) means that it can handle just about anything you can throw at it (or throw it on). Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back means that it’s not going to shatter should you look at it wrong — which is good to know when you are a klutz like me.
The V30 uses the new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which allows it to offer immersive gaming and entertainment, better pictures and video, and better battery life.
